A violent passenger on board a Hungarian airliner has died after he was tied down and given an injection to sedate him.

The plane was travelling from Bangkok to Budapest when witnesses say the man from Finland became aggressive and attacked stewardesses and a member of the cabin crew.

They decided to restrain him and made an emergency landing at Istanbul.

But he died before the plane touched down.

Reports from Istanbul say airport police have detained six crew members and the doctor who administered the injection.
