Identity plea after man found dying

Police are trying identify the dead man
A man found seriously injured in a street in Newhaven has died.

A member of the public called an ambulance to Gibbon Road at 0240 BST on Saturday.

The injured man, who has not yet been identified, was then taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton but was dead on arrival.

Police cordoned off part of Gibbon Road while scenes of crime officers examined the area.

Detective Chief Inspector Reg Hooke, said: "I'm appealing for people to think back.

"Did you hear anything, or perhaps see something, in the Gibbon Road area?

"Please call us with any information, however small."
