Holroyd: A new challenge
Halifax Blue Sox have strengthened their squad by signing goalkicking half-back Graham Holroyd from Yorkshire rivals Leeds for what has been described as a "substantial fee".

The 23-year-old, who was capped for Emerging England last season, has joined his home town club on a three-year contract and is likely to make his debut against his former club on Boxing Day.

"I would not have moved to Halifax unless I believed that they will win some trophies and I can't wait to get started. Being a Halifax lad, it is a dream come true," he said.

Holroyd is Halifax's third major signing following the recent capture of Andrew Craig and Craig Randall.

The exact size of the fee has not been revealed but Blue Sox chief executive Nigel Wood said: "By signing Graham, we've sent a clear message to the people of Halifax that we intend to improve on last season's top-five finish."
