Motorway crash kills two
Crash scene
The accident closed one of the region's busiest roads
Two people have died and four others were injured in an accident which closed a major road.

A Toyota car travelling along the A52 in Derbyshire left the road and collided with a Ford Escort car near junction 25 of the M1.

The A52 near Stapleford was closed for several hours following the incident at 1830 BST on Thursday.

Matt Pickard, from Derbyshire Police, said: "At the moment we are not exactly sure what has happened.

"We desperately need to find out what has caused this accident so we would appeal to anybody who was on the A52 to contact us."
