A levels crunch day
exam candidate
Many students will be hoping for a re-grade
On Breakfast, we talked live to those most closely affected by the A levels row: students, their teachers and the universities they'd hoped to go to.

  • We also put some of your questions about what happens now to our Education Correspondent James Westhead at 8.10am

  • At 6.10am., we talked to the National Union of Students.

  • At 7.10am, we debated the issues with a university academic who specialises in education and one of our viewers, Asad Hamir, who's been caught up in the A levels disaster.

Asad's case is typical of those at the centre of allegations of grade fixing. Five of his papers scored more than 80 per cent; the sixth got only 40 per cent.

"It wasn't just me. It happened to 10 or 15 students at the school," he told us.

Bethan Marshall, who's a lecturer in education, explained that there have been many more cases like that this year. While one individual case may indicate nothing, the number of unexpected results may indicate a pattern.
