Teenager guilty of causing paperboy's death
Court graphic
A 17-year-old has been convicted of manslaughter after a paperboy he attacked fled into a road and was killed.

Yannick Etutu of Goodmayes, near Hornchurch, Essex, had denied causing the death of 14-year-old schoolboy Scott Young.

Another youth charged in the case was cleared of manslaughter.

The Old Bailey heard that Scott had argued with Etutu and another youth on 14 December last year and ran onto London Road, in Romford, to escape.

Frightened boy

He was hit by two cars and died in hospital.

Prosecutor Sallie Bennett-Jenkins told the court Scott ran onto the road because he was frightened.

She said that neither driver could be held responsible because they could not avoid hitting the teenager.

Etutu will be sentenced on 23 October.
