Half-brothers executed in same hour in US

Two half-brothers have been executed within the same hour in the American state of South Carolina - more than 20 years after being convicted of murder.

The two men, Larry Gilbert and JD Gleaton, were put to death by lethal injection one after the other in the execution chamber at Broad River prison in Columbia.

They'd killed a petrol station employee during a robbery in 1977.

Correspondents say the two men's wait on Death Row was one of the longest in American history.
