'Tired' burglar found asleep
Police car
Officers found the stolen car on a driveway
A burglar who stole a car has been arrested by police after he was discovered fast asleep inside the vehicle.

The BMW car was stolen during a house burglary at Old Basing in Hampshire on Tuesday night along with cash and credit cards.

On Wednesday morning officers found the stolen car on a driveway in Chievely, Berkshire, with a man asleep inside it.

A police spokeswoman said: "It seems to be very hard work being a burglar - we are grateful this gentlemen's alleged night-time activities made him so tired he had to get some shut-eye."

The tired thief had earlier tried to get some sleep on the side of a road in Hook in Hampshire but had to flee when police officers knocked on the window to wake him up.

A householder in Chievely then alerted police at 1144 BST on Wednesday saying an unconscious man was outside his address in the car.

A 27-year-old man from Bristol was arrested and is being questioned by police.
