Naz: I'm not splitting with Warren

All hail the Prince: Ingle is to stay with the man whose career he helped build

Naseem Hamed has dismissed reports he is ready to go his own way and will part company with his two most high profile ringside backers.

The WBO featherweight champion insists his camp is settled and he will not be splitting up with either promoter Frank Warren or mentor Brendan Ingle.

When Hamed's brother and business manager Riath announced the fighter would become a free agent following the completion of his 10-fight contract, it was expected he would end his dealings with Warren.

But in an interview with BBC's Grandstand, Hamed denied the claims.

"I want to be with Frank Warren and he wants to be with me," he said. "I believe he is a great promoter and there is no split. All the press says `Naz has split with Frank Warren' and this and that.

"I haven't split with Frank and I haven't blatantly told him I've split. So there is no split and there is no split with Brendan Ingle.

"Everything is cool in the camp, and you never know there may be one in the future, but at this moment there isn't."

The 17-year link between Hamed and Ingle came under pressure in the build-up to his fight with Wayne McCullough following comments from the trainer in a recent book.

It was reported that the pair's partnership was coming to an end, but Hamed told Grandstand's Steve Ryder:

"The relationship is as it always was before a fight. He wasn't training me for the fight against McCullough, his sons were - Dominic and John - and Dominic and John did a great job.

"I'm not really dealing with Brendan, as in all the training, but I like to see him there because he's the one who spent all the time with me from being the age of seven.

"I want him to see me rise to every occasion and beat all these Americans and these so-called world champions. So I really do want him with me for loyalty's sake because he's been there since day one."
