Liberian government under attack

The Archbishop of the Liberian capital, Monrovia, has made a strong attack on the government, acccusing it of injustice and gross disrespect for people's rights.

In a pastoral letter, Archbishop Michael Francis said Liberian public sector salaries were, as he put it, sinfully low, while some of those in power were living in luxury.

He said many Liberians were paid as little as four dollars a month.

He also accused the authorities of sometimes arresting Liberians without charge, and of letting killings go unpunished.

There's been no comment from the government.
