Police discover cannabis plantation

More than 600 cannabis plants were seized

A large cannabis plantation has been uncovered at a farm between Worcester and Stourport.

Police seized more than 600 plants, which were being cultivated in two barns.

They also uncovered sophisticated heating and lighting equipment and believe the drugs were destined for sale around the West Midlands.

One person has been arrested and released on police bail but enquiries are continuing and the police are searching for a number of people in connection with the find.

Detective sergeant Dave Lewis, from West Mercia police, said: "This was a significant amount of plants and they were of varying maturity.

"All appeared to be of good quality. Samples have now gone to the forensic lab for testing."

He said the find had been the result of a police operation which was conducted over a number of weeks.
