News in brief: Travolta gets Greasy
John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John relived scenes from their hit film Grease 24 years on at a Hollywood party to launch the DVD of the film.

The stars, who played 1950s high school sweethearts Danny Zuko and Sandy Olsen in the 1978 film, performed You're The One That I Want.

Travolta, 48, and Newton-John, 54, showed they still knew all the right moves and words.

Speaking at the launch of the DVD on Tuesday, Travolta said he was "staggered" by the success of Grease so long after its first screening.

Rigg is 'sexiest' star

Diana Rigg and George Clooney have been named the sexiest stars in TV history in a US poll.

UK actress Rigg, now 64, is best-known for playing leather-clad Emma Peel in The Avengers.

Clooney won heart-throb status when he shot to fame as Dr Doug Ross in US medical drama ER in the mid-1990s.

Veteran actress Angie Dickinson, Denzel Washington and Magnum star Tom Selleck also feature high on the list.

Hunniford's chat show axed

Gloria Hunniford's daytime TV show on Five has been axed after five years.

The show, Open House With Gloria Hunniford, will end in December as part of a daytime shake-up at the re-launched channel.

Hunniford, 62, has been with the channel since it launched and has interviewed stars including Dolly Parton, Cindy Crawford and Sir Cliff Richard on the show.

But she will stay with Five to host occasional specials and is in talks about a new evening show.

Five's director of programmes Kevin Lygo said: "Gloria is a broadcasting legend and her ability to attract the cream of showbusiness stars is unparalleled."

'N Sync singer works against drink-driving

Pop singer Justin Timberlake is to lend his support to a drink driving campaign after one of his fans was killed while waiting to catch a glimpse of him.

The 'N Sync star said the "senseless" death of Anna White made him support a group called Recording Artists, Actors, and Athletes Against Drunk Driving (RADD).

Ms White was run over while waiting for Timberlake to emerge from the KIIS-FM radio station on 9 September.

"I can only hope that partnering with RADD will raise awareness and convince others never to drive after they've had even a few drinks," Timberlake said.

Film fans bitten by Hannibal

Hannibal Lecter has been voted the scariest film serial killer ever by movie fans.

Lecter, played by Anthony Hopkins, became a feared screen character in The Silence of the Lambs in 1991.

The killer from Seven, played by Kevin Spacey, was second in the poll, with the knife-wielding murderer from the Halloween movies, Michael Myers, third.

Norman Bates, the villain in the infamous shower scene from Hitchcock's Psycho, only came fourth in the survey by Total Film magazine.

Orchestra honours conductor

The London Symphony Orchestra is celebrating the 75th birthday of its principal conductor, Sir Colin Davis, with a gala concert on Wednesday.

The show will feature cellist Mstislav Rostropovich and violinist Sarah Chang, and will be watched by the Earl and Countess of Wessex.

Sir Colin, who has been principal conductor with the LSO since 1995, was made a Companion of Honour for his services to music in 2001.

Wednesday's concert will launch the LSO's autumn season and will be compered by BBC Radio 4 presenter James Naughtie.
