Here are some of your comments so far:

One of my favourite British films was the Italian Job a great feel good movie that captured the mood of the sixties very well
David Miller

My favourite British film has to be Hitchcock's "The 39 Steps". The relationship and dialogue between Hannay and Pamela is just wonderful. Very witty and. For me it's the definitive chase caper.
Neil Coleman, Malvern

Best British film has to be A Matter Of Life And Death. But almost anything by Powell and Pressberger would do.
Stuart Gale, Wallasey

My favourite British films are the 'Carry on' films. I have watched them all several times and I still come across bits of humour previously missed.
Alf Skinner, Oldham

The best British Film has to be Withnail and I - totally unique, never has there been a film like it. But what do you mean by "British films"? Working Title is a British Film Company, yet they made such fantastic films as Fargo and The Big Lebowski... Directed by Americans and set in America!
Andrew Wright, Romford, Essex
