Police hold murder suspect
Crediton
Phillip Cousins was injured in Crediton
Police in Devon have been granted more time to question a man arrested on suspicion of murder.

A 36-year-old man from Crediton was arrested on Tuesday night in connection with the death of Phillip Cousins, 33, also from Crediton.

Mr Cousins was injured after a collision with a vehicle at the junction of Crediton's Union Terrace and High Street at 1645 BST on Tuesday.

He died from his injuries on Wednesday morning in the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

Police constable Sharon Newman said: "We can understand that what people witnessed in the high street was extremely disturbing.

"A number of people have come forward and told us what they witnessed, but we would still ask anyone else who saw what happened to contact the police."
