Dog destroyed after child attack
The boy was attacked by a Staffordshire Bull Terrier
A dog which attacked and seriously injured an 11-year-old boy is to be destroyed on the order of a Belfast court.
The child had to undergo plastic surgery after the Staffordshire bull terrier left him with a wound on his right leg measuring 10cm in length and 5cm across. The boy was left with a permanent scar and had to spend a week in hospital. He missed school for two months as a result of his injuries. At Tuesday's court hearing, Nicola Wallace, from Lawther Court in north Belfast, was convicted of not keeping the Staffordshire bull terrier dog under her control. She was fined £100 and a destruction order was made against the dog. The prosecution was brought by the city council's dog warden. |
