Westwood turns up heat in Sun City

Lee Westwood chats with Tiger Woods on the first tee at Sun City

Lee Westwood shot a magnificent seven-under-par 65 to move to within two shots of the lead at the half-way stage of the Million Dollar Challenge at Sun City.

The Englishman celebrated being voted the European Tour's golfer of the year with a superb second round effort.

Westwood's 65, which followed an opening round 72, took him into joint third place on 137, seven-under, in the elite South African tournament, which involves just 12 of the best players in the world.

Nick Price of Zimbabwe leads the way on nine-under, with this year's double Major winner Mark O'Meara a shot back in second.

Price, aiming for his third victory in the event, carded a 68 to add to his opening round 67.

But Britain's other entrant, Colin Montgomerie, failed to emulate Westwood's achievements.

The Scot could only manage a 74 to lie 10 strokes adrift in 11th place, with only Jim Furyk behind him.
