An American envoy, Anthony Lake, is in Addis Ababa in a new attempt to resolve the seven-month border dispute bwteen Ethiopia and Eritrea.

He is having talks with the Prime Minister, Meles Zenawi, before going to Asmara on Sunday.

The State Department says it believes progress is possible, and has warned of grave consequences if a peaceful solution is not found soon.
