UN to welcome Cambodia

The United Nations committee which awards seats to nations at the General Assembly is due to hold a special session later today Friday to consider Cambodia's return to the UN.

The Cambodian seat has been vacant since the violent collapse last year of a power-sharing agreement between the coalition partners, Prince Norodom Ranariddh and Hun Sen.

The Cambodian Foreign Minister, Hor Nam Hong, has said that with a new, legitimate government now in place in his country, there were no more obstacles to Cambodia getting its seat back.
