Warning over "human insurance" in Kyrgyzstan

The authorities in Kyrgyzstan have warned entrepeneurs trading across the border with China to take more care after one businessman was held for ten months by Chinese traders angry over unpaid bills.

He was released only after the intervention of the Kyrgyz and Chinese authorities.

The BBC correspondent in the region says trade is flourishing between the two countries and growing numbers of Kyrgyz traders who fail to pay for goods are being held in China.
