The American envoy for Kosovo has presented the Serb leaders in Belgrade with a revised draft plan for the province.
The envoy, Christopher Hill, said the revised draft took account of comments by rival Serb and ethnic Albanian officials on how to achieve a settlement.
He said it did not create a third Yugoslav republic, which is strongly opposed by Serbia, but did leave the door open for further developments of the status of Kosovo.
Mr Hill will present the new draft plan to Kosovar Albanian officials tomorrow Friday.
Meanwhile the annual meeting in the Norwegian capitalOslo, of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe has urged all parties in the Kosovo conflict to seek a peaceful solution.
