Russia and Ethiopia in $150 million arms deal

Russia is to supply Ethiopia with used fighter planes, helicopters and other military equipment in a deal worth one-hundred-and-fifty million dollars.

The Russian Interfax news agency quoted Russian military officials as saying the equipment was being sold as part of cuts in the armed forces.

All the aircraft and equipment are due to be delivered to Ethiopia later this month.

During the Soviet era, Ethiopia was a political ally and a major recipient of Russian military hardware.
