The Mexican energy minister has warned that the international price of oil will remain low for years, and called for the Mexican government to reduce its dependency on oil revenues.

Mr. Luis Tellez said that the Mexican government currently depends on oil revenues for about one third of its spending.

He recommended a review of fiscal policies in order to boost tax revenues and use funds earned from oil exports for contingencies.
