George and Alex Best: Will marry - again - on the big screen

Soccer legend George Best is to make a cameo role as himself in a movie currently being made about his life.

He will be seen marrying real-life wife Alex in a white wedding at the end of the film - even though they actually married at Chelsea Register Office.

The movie, Best, is being shot on location at St Helens rugby club this week, with Sliding Doors actor John Lynch playing the former Manchester United idol.

However Best, who battled alcohol addiction for many years, said he was not happy with many of the storylines in the movie.

"They keep telling me that the bits they are putting in are only fiction, but punters watching it, knowing it is my life story, will assume every incident is real," he said.

Top soap EastEnders has been both attacked and praised for showing the best and worst attitudes to disability during Ricky and Bianca Butcher's pregnancies.

The show won the annual Raspberry Ripple Awards' worst soap prize for the couple's decision to terminate Bianca's first pregancy last Christmas after a scan revealed the baby would be severely disabled.

But the show also won a best Raspberry Ripple for Bianca's recent determination to refuse a scan for her latest pregnancy.

The Raspberry Ripples are organised by the 1 in 8 group to highlight stereotypical attitudes to disabled people in the media.

ITV's Coronation Street was a runner-up in the best soap category, and the BBC's Grange Hill was among the other winners.

Burt Reynolds: Planning sequel to Deliverance
Burt Reynolds is moving ahead with plans to direct and star in Deliverance II - a sequel to the acclaimed 1972 film based on the book by James Dickey.

He says original co-stars Jon Voight and Ned Beatty are enthusiastic about a sequel to the tale of businessmen who run into danger on a weekend river trip.

"We're all in pretty good health and it might be believable that we would start out on another canoe trip," he said.

"I don't know how long we'd last," he added.

Fresh from their partnership on Saving Private Ryan, Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks are to co-produce a 13-hour World War II TV mini-series.

Band of Brothers, which will focus on a US Army unit, is due to begin production next year and will initially be screened on America's HBO channel.

The project is based on a book by Stephen Ambrose about an army rifle company that parachuted into France on D-Day.

Film chiefs are trying to persuade Emma Thompson to change her mind about taking a year off from acting.

The British star has announced that she is taking a break to start a family with actor Greg Wise. But producer Martin Poll wants her to star in a new version of the 1968 film The Lion In Winter, which originally starred Katherine Hepburn and Peter O'Toole.

There are reports that she could be interested if the right leading man is found.

Twenty bestselling songs are to battle it out for the title of Record Of The Year in Britain's biggest phone poll.

The battle will be transmitted live on ITV on December 19, with Jonathan King hosting the show. The 20 songs will be whittled down to 10 the week before.

Competing acts include Robbie Williams, the Spice Girls, Run DMC and B*Witched, but there is no place for Billie and the Manic Street Preachers. King said it would do wonders for record sales.

Fisher back in rehab

Actress Carrie Fisher, who has a history of problems with substance abuse, has checked back into rehab.

The health of the star, who played Princess Leia in the original Star Wars movies, has been causing concern among friends and family recently.

"It's so heartbreaking, but she's getting through it," said Fisher's mother, actress Debbie Reynolds.

She added: "She's tough, she's a hard worker."
