Burundi rebels kill at least twenty Hutu refugees

Officials in Burundi say Hutu rebels have killed at least twenty fellow Hutus, many of them children, in an attack on a refugee camp near the capital, Bujumbura.

The attack happened early on Wednesday morning.

A military spokesman, quoted on one report, said the rebels were taking revenge on civilians they believed were co-operating with the Tutsi-led army.

The rebels attacked the same camp in November killing twenty-six people.

Hutu rebels are fighting to topple the military rule of Pierre Buyoya, a member of the Tutsi minority.
