Wednesday, December 2, 1998 Published at 08:37 GMT World: Asia-Pacific China earthquake causes damage An earthquake in south-western China is reported to have damaged more than fourteen hundred buildings and left thousands of people homeless. The quake, which measured 5.1 on the Richter scale, struck near Xuanwei in Yunnan province on Tuesday afternoon. There were no reports of any deaths and only four people were reported to have been injured. It was the third earthquake to strike the province in the last two weeks.
