The prime minister of Grenada, Keith Mitchell, has called on the governor-general of the island to dissolve parliament after the resignation of a minister left his government in a minority.

Foreign affairs minister Raphael Fletcher resigned on Monday after alleging irregularities in the awarding ofgovernment contracts.

After the dissolution of the Grenadian parliament, new elections must be held within ninety days.
