Police in Thailand say they've detained four men, and confiscated bomb-making equipment at a house in the suburbs of Bangkok.

A police spokesman said the men had no identity cards on them, but they were Pakistanis.

He said they could have been preparing for a terrorist act, but would not say if this was connected with the Asian games, which open in the Thai capital on Sunday.

A major security operation is underway to protect athletes, officials and dignitaries from forty-two nations expected in Thailand for the games.
