Japan to help Vietnamese economy


Japan has agreed to continue to support economic reform in Vietnam.

The Kyodo news agency said the visiting Vietnamese Defence Minister, Pham Van Tra had asked for Japan se economic support for Vietnam, at a meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister, Keizo Obuchi and foreign minister Msahiko Komura.

The report said Mr Obuchi plegded to include Vietnam in Japan's thirty-billion dollar assistance to help Asian nations overcome the economic crisis
