Elephant dung painter wins Turner prize

Artist Chris Ofili, notorious for using elephant in his paintings, has won this year's £20,000 Turner Prize.

On receiving the award, Mr Ofili said: "Thank God, where's my cheque. I don't know what to say, I'm just really happy, I can't believe it, it feels like a film and I'll watch it when I get home. Thanks."

Ofili was the favourite among the four short-listed artists to win and is the first painter to take the prize for at least twelve years.
