The Nigerian Ministry of Internal Affairs, says the country will close its land borders from twelve o'clock local time on Friday, in the run up to local government elections on Saturday.
The borders with Benin, Niger, Chad and Cameroon will be shut to prevent what the ministry called fraudulent politicians bringing in aliens to vote in the election.
The borders will be reopened at 1800 local time on Saturday.
