Six people were initially known to have been killed but rescue workers have found more dead and reports are still coming in from isolated villages.

Many people were injured and made homeless after the earthquake, measuring six-point-five on the Richter scale, struck and caused widespread damage.

Emergency flights have delivered food, medicine and water to the area.
