European Union finance ministers are meeting in Brussels today for talks which include proposals for the harmonization of tax rates.

The BBC correspondent in Brussels says the British Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown, has warned that common tax levels could lead to job losses and is set to resist the plans.
