The authorities in Congo have organized a big clean-up operation in the capital, Brazzaville, to repair the damage caused by last year's civil war.
Hundreds of unemployed young people have been put to work, clearing away months of accumulated rubbish and unblocking drains.
The operation has been financed by the European Union.
Correspondents say mounds of refuse and blocked drains had become a danger to public health, contributing to an increase in malaria.
