One of the key institutions in London's financial district, the City, is hoping to win back business from a German exchange with the launch of electronic trading.
Up until now, LIFFE, has used the traditional method whereby people shout at each other across the trading floor.
But now it's started the switch to electronic trading with the buying and selling of stock options.
In a few months it wants all its other business carried out on screen as well.
The BBC's business reporter says London's LIFFE has lost business to its German rival, EUREX, largely because screen trading there is already in place.
