Italy holding talks in Russia about Ocalan

The Italian Foreign Minister, Lamberto Dini, has been having talks in Moscow on the future of the Kurdish rebel leader, Abdullah Ocalan, who is currently in Italy under house arrest.

Mr Ocalan arrived in Rome from Moscow earlier this month November 12th.

Correspondents say Italy is looking for a way out of the diplomatic crisis caused by Mr Ocalan's arrest and one option is to send him back to Moscow.

Turkey wants Mr Ocalan extradited, but Italy has refused on the grounds that it has the death penalty.
