Sonia Gandhi cautious on bid for power at Centre

Leaders of the main Indian political parties are meeting in Delhi to review strategy in the wake of the state assembly election results, which saw a big shift in support from the BJP to Congress.

BJP leaders have described the results as disappointing but said they would not have any impact on the federal coalition.

The Congress President, Sonia Gandhi, said it was too early to try to topple the BJP-led coalition with a vote of no confidence.

But correspondents say her party may come under pressure from other opposition parties to attract disgruntled allies of the BJP and attempt to form an alternative government.
