New government approved in Cambodia

The Cambodian parliament has approved a cabinet put forward by the prime minister, Hun Sen.

Hun Sen will lead a coalition of his People's Party, which narrowly won elections in July, and the FUNCINPEC party of Prince Norodom Ranariddh.

The two parties have agreed to share ministerial positions in the cabinet.

The European Union has said it will consider a full resumption of aid to Cambodia once Hun Sen's government is installed, and there's also speculation about renewed American aid.

Hun Sen and Prince Ranariddh shared power in an earlier coalition, which collapsed in July last year when Hun Sen ousted the prince in a bloody coup.
