Talks on Eritrea-Ethiopia border

The Eritrean president, Isaias Afwerki, has accused Ethiopia of setting unacceptable conditions for a settlement of their border dispute.

He was speaking in Cairo after talks with the head of the Arab League, Esmat Abdel Meguid.

Mr Afwerki also discussed the dispute with President Mubarak, who had earlier met the Ethiopian Prime Minister, Meles Zenawi, on the margins of the Franco-African summit in Paris.

Fighting broke out between the two neighbours six months ago but the conflict has recently been confined to border clashes.
