A German policewoman sent to stop a man attempting suicide has shot and killed the man and his brother.

As the policewoman forced her way into the flat of the man trying to kill himself, he rushed towards her holding a knife.

The policewoman fired two shots, killing the man and his brother who had tried to restrain him.

This was the third time in two years that police in the southern German region of Bavaria have shot and killed people.
