At least six policemen have been killed and four others injured in southern Colombia in an ambush by left-wing rebels of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.
Officials in the town of Puerto Asis say the police were investigating reports of a massacre, when their patrol vehicle was blown up.
In a separate incident, eight civilians in northern Colombia are reported to have been killed by members of a right-wing paramilitary group.
