Reports from Guinea Bissau say representatives of the ruling party and military rebels have reached agreement on a government of national unity.It is not clear when the new cabinet will take place or who will head it.

President Joao Vieira had been expected to remain in charge but yesterday parliament passed a motion demanding his resignation.

The formation of a new government is in line with the peace agreement signed earlier this month ending five months of civil war.
