Egyptians reject donation

The Egyptian Organisation of Human Rights is to return a donation of twenty-five thousand dollars it received from the British parliament's human rights committee.

The organisation said it had decided to refuse any foreign financial aid in future to prove its impartiality.

The decision follows an accusation in the Egyptian press that the money was in return for a recent controversal report on police brutality against Copts.

The organisation said the donation was intended to help finance a legal aid programme for women.
