Only 20 minutes of play was possible between lunch and tea as a storm drenched the ground, leaving huge pools of water on the outfield.
Curtly Ambrose restricted the home side's lead by capturing two for 18 in an eight-over spell. Big-hitting all-rounder Pat Symcox tried to farm the strike with last man David Terbrugge in, but eventually ran himself out for 25. Courtney Walsh finished with four for 66, Ambrose took two for 63 and fellow fast bowler Nixon McLean had two for 66. Scoreboard:
