Booth denies Blues ![]() Chelsea's Tore Andre Flo cannot escape Wednesday's Ian Nolan Chelsea 1-1 Sheffield Wed Chelsea stretched their unbeaten run to 18 games, but had to settle for a point against the determined Owls.
In the end Wednesday deserved their draw, earned through Andy Booth's equaliser.
The goal was reward for Chelsea pressure - Albert Ferrer shot wide and Gustavo Poyet forced a stretching save out of Srnicek. Chelsea continued to press after the break - Roberto Di Matteo bundling an effort past the post and Zola testing Srnicek with a 20-yard shot. But Wednesday, also unchanged following last week's 3-1 victory over Manchester United, refused to buckle. Booth, who had missed a great chance in the opening seconds of the match, fluffed again after being sent clear by Benito Carbone. But the striker made amends with an equaliser on 67 minutes. Niclas Alexandersson beat Graeme Le Saux on the right and Booth got a toe to his cross - his second goal of the season. Moments later Wednesday appealed for handball in the area against Chelsea's French World Cup centre-back Marcel Desailly but the referee waved play on. TV replays suggested the Owls had a good case.
