Reports from Uganda say that rebels from the Lord's Resistance Army have ambushed four vehicles along a main road in the north of the country.

The state minister for defence Steven Kavuma said two vehicles had been completely burned.

The fate of the passengers wasn't known.

The reported attack comes after a group of about three hundred rebels entered Uganda from their bases in Sudan earlier this month.
