Mauritanian opposition bocotts poll
The main opposition parties in Mauritania say they will boycott municipal elections planned for January and February.
The People's Opposition Front complained that the government was refusing to involve them in the organisation of the elections.
Mauritania's president, Maaouya Ould Sid'Ahmed Taya, was re-elected last year in a poll boycotted by the main opposition parties.
