Collymore sits out Forest return ![]() Duncan Ferguson plays for Newcastle after completing a £7m move this week Nottingham Forest v Aston Villa Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore has been ruled out of his side's trip to his former club Nottingham Forest today. The £7m hitman, who left Forest to join Liverpool in 1995, will miss out after suffering with a stomach virus. Collymore, who was sent off against Liverpool last week, said: "I have been feeling poorly for a couple of days and there's no way I'll be able to play.
"If I feel well enough, I'm still hoping to get over and watch the game. But I'm really disappointed not to be playing. "You don't want to be missing any games at the moment and I'm already ruled out of next week's match with Manchester United because of suspension." Villa have midfielder Ian Taylor back in the side after suspension. Forest are aiming for their first win in 12 league games and will be without suspended Alan Rogers. Charlton v Everton Charlton will be without the suspended John Robinson for the visit of Everton. But the south Londoners are boosted by the return of Shaun Newton. Everton, who looked less than impressive in beating Newcastle 1-0 on Monday night, will be looking to show they can still perform without former skipper Ferguson. Danny Cadamarteri is set to continue alongside Ibrahima Bakayoko up front, while Marco Materazzi is available again after suspension. Chelsea v Sheffield Wednesday The Premiership's form team Chelsea are looking to make it 19 games without defeat against a Wednesday side that beat Manchester United 3-1 last week. The Blues are without Dennis Wise, who is suspended, but fellow midfielder Roberto Di Matteo is fit to continue after a head injury. Wednesday boss Danny Wilson is likely to name an unchanged side, with goalkeeper Pavel Srnicek keeping fit-again Kevin Pressman out of the team. Coventry v Leicester
David Burrows is again out with a hamstring injury, while Noel Whelan is a slight doubt. Andy Impey is in line for his Leicester debut after his £1.6m move from West Ham United, but veteran striker Tony Cottee is doubtful with a hamstring strain. Newcastle v Wimbledon The highlight of Saturday's Premiership programme sees £7m man Duncan Ferguson make his Newcastle debut at St James' Park. The Scottish targetman, who made a shock move from Everton earlier in the week, will start for the Magpies against Wimbledon as they bid to end their worrying goal drought. But Newcastle fans' hopes of seeing Ferguson forming a potentially mouth-watering strike partnership with Alan Shearer on Saturday look to have been scuppered, as the England captain is still struggling with a a hamstring injury. Manager Ruud Gullit also has problems at the back, with Nicos Dabizas and Stuart Pearce ruled out through suspension. Wimbledon have their own selection concerns, with in-form midfielder Michael Hughes banned. Otherwise, though, manager Joe Kinnear has a full-strength squad for the trip to Newcastle, where the Dons have won just once in their last six visits. Southampton v Derby Matthew Le Tissier is suspended for Southampton's clash with Derby after picking up five bookings. Striker Egil Ostenstad joins Saint's lengthy absentee list with a hamstring injury. Richard Dryden is out with a groin problem and there are doubts over Ken Monkou and Claus Lundekvam. Skipper Igor Stimac is Derby's major doubt with a foot injury, while Francesco Baiano misses the game after picking up an ankle knock in the home defeat by West Ham. West Ham v Tottenham Striker Ian Wright is suspended for a West Ham side that have won their last two games and who will continue with John Hartson and Paul Kitson in attack. Stan Lazaridis is likely to come into the team in place of Marc Keller, who is ruled out with hamstring trouble. Tottenham will be without Colin Calderwood (suspended), Justin Edinburgh (knee), Les Ferdinand (foot) and Ramon Vega (knee). |
