Friday, November 27, 1998 Published at 12:53 GMT Entertainment Dion in French privacy battle ![]() Celine Dion: Suing over claims in gossip magazine Pop superstar Celine Dion is suing a French magazine for violation of privacy in an article suggesting she is unable to have a child. Her lawyer Jacques Levy told a court in Toulouse that the celebrity-based weekly Voici committed a "serious violation of her privacy and undermined her husband's dignity". Levy asked the court to award Dion, 30, and her husband Rene, 100,000 francs (£10,600) each in damages, along with a front-page retraction of the story. A decision is expected in February. Meanwhile, Dion is planning to take a six month break when her next tour finishes - on New Year's Eve, 1999. She is looking forward to starting the millennium at home - and says she still wants to start a family with her 56-year-old husband. "I can't wait to cook and iron some clothes, clean the home and do some normal stuff," she said. "I want to buy my own groceries. Forget about the limo and chauffeur, I'll buy myself a car."
Reeve's role problems
Now paralysed following a riding accident, he says it is difficult to find suitable projects. He said: "I have to be very careful because I have 15 people taking care of me and they all have a life. "I am looking for something that can be filmed within 50 miles of New York so they can get home at night. "Everything is such an effort that it has to be something really worthwhile."
Winslet tracked down on honeymoon
One paper tracked the newlyweds down to the Scottish Highlands, where they are pictured cycling in the rain not far from their remote honeymoon cottage. They moved there from a North Yorkshire hotel, where the happy couple were greeted with white roses and champagne in their room, and dined and drank in the local pub. The 23-year-old actress married Jim Threapleton, 25, in a traditional Church of England ceremony last Sunday at All Saints Church in Reading, Berkshire.
Williams to cut down on movies
"They'll soon be advertising when I'm not in a movie," he said. "I'm going to cut back now. I don't need the money." The 46-year-old actor has two films - What Dreams May Come and Patch Adams - released in the US within three months. Patch Adams is the fifth film in eight years in which Williams plays a doctor. The first was 1990's Awakenings.
Fonda wants family film reunion
He is regularly in touch with Jane, who has not been before the cameras since she married media mogul Ted Turner in 1992. The Ulee's Gold actor is hopeful she will make a comeback. He said: "Some time, somewhere, she'll find a part she wants to play - and I just hope it's a project that also has a place for me."
From Bond to Broadway
The 64-year-old star will play actress Esme Allen in Amy's View - about a strong mother in a long-term struggle with her daughter - which completed its West End run in April. Former Royal National Theatre artistic director Richard Eyre, who directed the play in London, will also be at the helm when it opens in the spring. |
