The Burmese authorities have arrested three foreigners for entering the country illegally from northern Thailand.

Burmese officials have confirmed that the three men, an American, a Canadian and a German, have been taken to the city of Taunggyi for questioning.

The foreigners are reported to have crossed the border into Burma on rented motorcycles last week.
