The men voted to accept a peace plan aimed at settling the two-week stoppage.

Now they will return to work on Monday.

Union leaders announced on Thursday that they had reached an agreement with Drake & Scull, the contractors building the extension, which is the largest construction project in Europe.

When complete, the line will be one of the main access routes to the Milennium Dome.

Around 500 members of the Amalgamated Engineering and Electrical Union are involved.

The union's General Secretary, Ken Jackson, said the agreement would clear a "new way forward" for the JLE and help the troubled project be completed by next autumn.

Drake & Scull Project Director Chris Raven said: "The agreement enables us to move forward positively with all parties working together."

Under the peace plan, 12 workers the company wanted to transfer to Green Park will remain at London Bridge while workers will agree to stick to procedures and not take further unofficial action.

The men walked out two weeks ago in a safety related dispute which threatened to disrupt further the opening of the extension.
